Assignment: Forms of Surface: Texture

Texture is described as where vision and touch overlap.  In making or viewing images of texture, “the viewer should feel as if she is touching it with her eyes.”  The authors suggest that in exploring this aspect of the visual, one not look for objects you know to have texture.  These are the easy shots.  Look instead at objects that don’t appear to have discernible texture.

Pattern, they say, is typically the easiest assignment as it occurs everywhere.  It is described as repetition of visual surface features, though one can find random patterns.

The material here is quite sparse.  No minimum number of images is suggested and there is no revision of intention, synchronization, flash, forming the equivalent.

I focused here only on texture and once again found myself on campus and perhaps shooting similar manifestations of texture.

One thing I found difficult is getting in close.  The camera just won't focus at the range I'd like for this assignment.
